The realigned Lim Chu Kang Road will open on 8 June 2025 at 12.30am. Spanning about eight kilometres, the realigned road will comprise a dual 3-lane carriageway from Jalan Bahar to the new junction with Old Choa Chu Kang Road and the realigned Lim Chu Kang Road, before transitioning into a dual 2-lane carriageway. It will also be extended to form a new signalised T-junction with Jalan Bahar. This will facilitate the expansion of Tengah Air Base.
Realignment of Lim Chu Kang Road
2 To facilitate the remaining road works, the existing Lim Chu Kang Road will be decommissioned and closed from 12.30am on 8 June 2025. These works, scheduled for completion in the 3rd Quarter of 2025, include:
i. Reconfiguring the junction between Jalan Bahar and Old Choa Chu Kang Road into a signalised T-junction with the closure of the existing Lim Chu Kang Road; and
ii. Removing parts of the closed sections of Jalan Bahar and Lim Chu Kang Road.
3 Together with the opening of the realigned roads, there will be new footpaths along both sides of the road to enhance connectivity and safety for pedestrians. In tandem with these improvements, eight new bus stops will be added along the realigned Lim Chu Kang Road, and six bus stops along Jalan Bahar and Old Choa Chu Kang Road will be relocated to better serve commuters.
Bus routes
4 The routes of Bus Services 172, 405 and 975 will be amended with the opening of the realigned road:
i. Service 975 will be rerouted to ply the aligned Lim Chu Kang Road via Old Choa Chu Kang Road;
ii. Service 405, which operates only during selected festive periods, will skip the closed sector of Lim Chu Kang Road; and
iii. Services 172 and 405 will continue to ply along Jalan Bahar but will skip two bus stops that will be removed.
More information
5 New informational and directional traffic signs will be put up on-site to guide motorists using the realigned roads. Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow traffic signs on site. Public bus commuters can refer to the posters on the bus route changes, which will be displayed at the relevant bus interchanges, affected bus stops and on the bus operator’s social media platforms.
6 Please refer to Annex A, B and C for details on the changes to the area’s road connections and Annex D for the publicity posters on the bus route amendments.
Re-Designation of Lim Chu Kang Heritage Road Green Buffer
7 A total of 1.8 km of the green verges along the existing Lim Chu Kang Road is presently designated as Heritage Road Green Buffer under the Parks and Trees (Heritage Road Green Buffers) Order. With this partial road closure and the corresponding removal of the green verges along it, the remaining 0.6 km stretch of green verges will remain designated under the same Order.
8 NParks will further enhance the greenery along this 0.6 km of Heritage Road Green Buffer. For example, native tree species including Asam Gelugor (Garcinia atroviridis), Island Lychee (Pometia pinnata), Jelutong (Dyera costulata), Katong Laut (Cynometra ramiflora), and Seashore Mangosteen (Garcinia celebica) will be added to establish a multi-tiered native forest species planting palette that will provide shade for road users as well as ecological connectivity for biodiversity in the area.
